Lichfield hotel with genuine Italian Restaurant Hotel and Pub on the edges of Lichfield in Staffordshire, Midlands, England (that last for those few people who do not instantly recognise that Muckley Corner is the location of an hotel near Lichfield, in Staffordshire, Midlands, England, UK)

The RESIDENT OWNERS are there to ensure that everything is as you would want it.  The restaurant "Ristorante il Postiglioni" has a real Italian Chef - and no, not all so called Italian Restaurants have an Italian chef! Whether you are a couple or a party looking for a good meal and good atmosphere, the Muckley Corner Hotel is a great venue.  Drink in the bar, eat in the Italian restaurant and then, if too tired to go home, stay the night in one of our bedrooms. Well, have you seen the granite top in the bar? And new rails around the top of the bar? And the wonderful stained solid oak floor?

Some 23 hotel bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities, a couple of suites with four poster beds, good car park at front and a larger one at the back, this is the place you must visit if you are looking for real Italian food and service. The Muckley Corner Hotel has recently changed back to its original name having been, for a number of years, The Olde Corner House Hotel.

Plenty of free parking, some at the front and some at the back.  Parking at the back accessed by going a very short way down the A5 Eastbound past the hotel and turning into the back of our premises

The hotel restaurant and bar have been redecorated over the last few months - in truth, the bar is looking pretty good now and a lot has been done in other places too - but the kitchen is already turning out wonderful food.  If you do not like Italian food, don't worry, there is a good range of English food available too - but once you have tried good Italian food . . . I stopped off there the otherst night - real minestrone soup followed by venison Aostan style - lovely! Got to admit to developing the habit of dropping in there on the way home from work and having a bowl of soup.

If you are visiting the NEC and looking for an Hotel to stay in, look no further - you have found it! Bed and Breakfast, bed & breakfast or B & B - call it what you like, stay here and have the advantages of an Italian Restaurant and bar and all at a very competitive price. Ever noticed the pink marble Pergola in the front of the hotel?  Well, it may not be there much longer -  apparently it contravenes section 87/c/4098253 of the ministry of obfuscation and confusion's rule concerning the erection and upkeep of pink pergolas in public places by Italians nationals trying to blend into the surrounding countryside by masquerading as restaurateurs. Maybe if you wind Nat up enough he may become a restauranteur (emphasis on the rant) instead of a restaurateur. All of which has little to do with an hotel in Lichfield but, let's be honest (as we always are) there are no other hotels or restaurants in the Lichfield area with pink pergolas actual or erstwhile on which to comment, so let's raise a glass of murky water to those 'jobsworth' superfluities who have little else to do but to try their hardest to bring everyone else down to their humour free level. Sadly, the paper pushers and their multi-ticked forms have won - so look at the photographs of the pergola because you will not see it outside the hotel anymore - well done oh pension grabbing limited imagination nothingnesses,

Looking out of a bedroom window, over the top of the pergola, I spotted a nice .Harley on its way. We do get the occasional group of bikers dropping by (Nat used to sell motorbikes) and we are always pleased to see them.

We talk about this hotel as if it is in Lichfield - and I guess it qualifies as that but it is also close to Burntwood, so if you are looking for an hotel in Burntwood or Bridgetown or Brownhills or indeed Cannock then this is the hotel for you.  Good value (in truth, the rooms are pretty cheap but that makes them sound no good - have a look at the room rates) and with free parking, excellent Italian Restaurant and friendly bar, why would you want to stay anywhere else? Unless, of course, you are someone who is so important that it is below your dignity to stay anywhere that is not 5 star - be brave, live a little, it is quite safe to stay somewhere else and you might find that you actually enjoy it more.  Blast, I have just remembered that I promised to take some photographs of the newly refurbished en-suite bedrooms (doesn't 'en-suite' sound twee . . .OK, the bedrooms have bathrooms or showers directly attached to the bedrooms, accessible from inside the bedroom without the huge inconvenience of having to go outside [and running the risk of forgetting which room was yours] - OK, I give in, these great value hotel bedrooms in the Lichfield area have en-suite facilities).
